   CRYSTAL BRAWL — ODDS BOARD (redesign, 2026-08-23)
   Ported from the Claude Design project "Redesigning CrystalBrawl.com",
   file "Crystal Brawl Odds Board - Live.dc.html".

   THREE DELIBERATE DEPARTURES FROM THE MOCKUP, each with a reason:

   1. MOBILE FIRST. The mockup is a fixed 1480px desktop canvas with a static
      178px sidebar. Standing owner rule: most visitors are on a phone and
      every screen is checked at 375px before it ships. So this file is built
      the other way up — the phone layout is the base, and the mockup's canvas
      is what it grows into at >=1080px. Nothing about the design is lost;
      it is reached by media query instead of being the starting point.

   2. TIER COLOURS COME FROM config/tiers.json, NOT FROM THIS FILE. The mockup
      hardcodes amber/purple/blue/steel, which happens to be the real ramp
      shifted one step (its T4 amber is the config's T3). Standing brand rule:
      the ramp lives in config and reaches CSS only as --tc / --tcd, so a
      retune moves every surface at once. Never reintroduce a colour ramp here.

   3. SYSTEM FONTS, NO CDN. The mockup pulls Archivo + JetBrains Mono from
      Google Fonts. The site's rule is system stacks only (no third-party
      requests, and load time here has been fought for). --mono already
      prefers a local JetBrains Mono when the visitor has it, so the mono
      texture the design leans on survives wherever it actually exists.

   Green (--accent) still only ever means OUR number; the book is --booknum
   grey. The one sanctioned exception is the wordmark, where green is the
   brand signature — see templates/_brand.html.
   =========================================================================== */

/* ===========================================================================
   TYPOGRAPHY (owner pick, 2026-08-24: Inter Tight, site-wide).

   WHY THIS REPLACED THE HELVETICA NEUE STACK. Helvetica Neue only ships on
   Apple devices — every Windows and Android visitor silently fell through to
   Arial, so the 2026-08-23 "sharper" pick was never seen by most of the
   audience. Inter Tight is SELF-HOSTED, so the face is identical on every
   platform. It is a tighter-fitting Inter: highest x-height of the faces
   trialled, so names and the two headline figures read larger at the same px
   without growing the layout — which is the recognition-speed rule doing the
   choosing, not taste.

   STILL NO CDN. The files are served from crystalbrawl.com, not Google Fonts —
   no third-party request, no third-party cookie, nothing that can go down
   independently of us. Latin is 44KB and loads always; latin-ext is 88KB and
   is gated by unicode-range, so it is fetched only if a glyph above U+00FF
   actually appears (no fighter name in the DB currently has one). Licensed
   SIL OFL 1.1 — the licence ships beside the fonts in static/fonts/OFL.txt.

   font-display: swap is deliberate: the first paint uses the fallback stack
   rather than showing nothing, because a board that is late is worse than a
   board that reflows once.

   Set on :root and body so the whole site moves together; board.css loads
   after style/theme/phase2, so this wins without touching those files.
